Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games

In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
