Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the group reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
