Alarming Video Captures Instant Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault

Both Senior Officers Instants Before the Aggressor Received Electric Shock

One ranking policeman who jumped to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker received the Royal Recognition for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he placed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in that location in mid-2023.

Brown attacked with blade both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the agency revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He struck the policeman who lost balance and went down to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the knife.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a safe opportunity, concluding the fight to an end.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sgt Ansell received two lacerations to his throat and more wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.

The department said Sgt Foster employed his hands to stem his partner's bleeding prior to emergency responders reached the scene.

This most recent award comes subsequent to the three officers were granted departmental Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local officer association in early 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The actions of the entire team eventually saved one another and ensured no members of the public experienced any injuries."

Brown received a sentence to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, as stated by the department.
